New appointment for Wayport

Peter Feldman has joined the executive management team of Wayport as vice president of engineering.

As VP of engineering, Feldman will be responsible for directing the team of more than 40 software, hardware and network engineers responsible for Wayport’s platform that provides public and private network services. Feldman will assume the role previously held by Dr. Jim Keeler, who was named Wayport’s Chief Technology Officer in December 2006. Keeler’s focus as CTO will be placed on long term strategic technology issues that will support the company’s new initiatives in vertical markets and explore new business capabilities for customers and strategic partners. Feldman will report to Keeler.

“Peter brings tremendous background and experience in high-growth product development organizations as well as an excellent understanding and experience in public high-speed Internet access,” said Dave Vucina, CEO of Wayport. “We are very pleased that he will be leading our engineering group under Jim’s direction as we continue to develop exciting new products and services in the hospitality, retail and health care vertical markets.”

Prior to joining Wayport, Feldman served as vice president of engineering at Nomadix (acquired by MagiNet in December 2006). At Nomadix, he was responsible for all product development as well as key involvement in product roadmap creation.  Feldman also served at Nomadix for several years as director of product development. Prior to Nomadix, he led various engineering and product development teams at Xircom.
