CWT reports hotel growth

Carlson Wagonlit Travel UK (CWT) has announced unprecedented 40 per cent growth in hotel booking transactions in 2007 year to date, demonstrating both the demand for ‘one-stop’ booking services and CWT’s increasing share of the hotel booking sector.  CWT, which recently announced a hotel and conferencing contract with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), is planning continued investment within the hotel booking sector.  On July 2nd the company will open a new Manchester-based Hotel Service Centre to provide specialist hotel booking and venue find services. The Hotel Service Centre will become the hub for centralised back office business processes, which have been re-engineered to provide extra efficiencies.
HARP, CWT’s proprietary hotel database, provides access to more than 140,000 hotels worldwide, including around 70,000 non-GDS properties.  The tool has received acclaim from hotel suppliers, whilst allowing corporates to achieve truly global coverage as part of their travel management programmes.

Jennifer Charlton, Director of Business Development, CWT UK commented; “Increasingly clients are looking for a ‘one stop shop’ for all their travel services, combining air, rail, hotels, meetings and events. Such consolidation drives tangible savings and improved data management, which also enables us to track travellers and offer the benefits of our security services.”
