Life Resorts appoints spa manager

Yvette Garcia has been appointed Group Spa and Wellness Development Manager for the Life Resorts Management Company. The Life Resorts owns several boutique resorts in Vietnam and has recently signed management deals with two others.

“We’ve just created this position,” said Chris Duffy, the company’s general director. “It’s a sign of how quickly things are moving for us. We’re opening two new wellness resorts in the next year, in addition to our current resort in Quy Nhon. There’s tremendous demand for wellness programs in Vietnam right now, and we’re looking to Yvette to help us meet it.”

Garcia comes to the Life Resorts from Turkey, where she was spa manager at the Xanadu Resort Hotel in Antalya. Previously, she worked for the Radisson Seven Seas Cruises and at the Regency Day Spa & Prana MediSpa in the Philippines.

Her academic background includes travel and tourism studies at the Toronto School of Business, management training at the Frederique Academy in Hong Kong, and product training in Antalya and Istanbul, Turkey.

“I’ve worked in some exceptional spas,” said Garcia. “But the Life Resorts are truly the most wellness-oriented. The spa settings are incredibly conducive to rest and relaxation, the staff is dedicated and well-trained, and the philosophy of the resorts emphasizes nature over artifice. It’s an incredibly rewarding place to work.”

Garcia’s responsibilities will include full oversight of spa operations and wellness activities for the entire Life Resorts Group, development of programs in relation to wellness, and the design of new treatments for the resorts’ spas.

“Yvette has her hands full overseeing the group,” said Duffy. “But she’s got an amazing amount of experience and a great creative streak. We’re looking forward to seeing her work her magic to make sure our spa program is always the number one resource for people seeking wellness in Vietnam.”

Life Wellness Resorts are geared towards enhancing guests’ spiritual, physical, and mental health. Open-air massage huts, homemade treatment products, and rigorously trained therapists are signature elements of the spa experience.

The Life Resort in Quy Nhon, a hide away resort positioned on the central Vietnamese coast, was awarded Best Wellness Resort in Vietnam in 2004 and 2005 by the Vietnam Economic Times (The Guide), and was nominated for Best Destination Spa in the SpaAsia Crystal Awards 2006.
