Malaysia slashes Asean package fares

Malaysian Airline System Bhd is slashing between 10 and 15 pct from its usual package fares marketed in Asean countries until year-end to attract more tourists into the country, the Bernama news agency reported, citing MAS commercial director Rashid Khan. He said MAS has introduced 250 packages for its joint promotion with government agency Tourism Malaysia in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

Rashid said MAS has allocated 2.5 mln seats under the programme and “expects about 1.7 mln seats to be taken up and is confident of chalking up 20 mln rgt in revenue through the offers.”

The customised packages start from as low as 108 usd for twin-share to a maximum of 1,129 usd for single supplement.
