NY preps for Caribbean Week

The Caribbean Tourism Development Company is set to
present the annual Caribbean Marketing Workshop, Industry Leaders Panel and Awards
Luncheon next week at the New York Marriott Marquis as part of
Caribbean Week 2007 in New York.The event is being hosted by the Allied Members of
the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and the Association of Travel Marketing
Executives (ATME) and is sponsored by The Adventures in Travel Expo? and the Bermuda
Department of Tourism.

During the workshop, tourism practitioners, strategic partners and industry
representatives will hear a keynote address focusing on The Changing Face of Travel
Marketing.  The event will begin at 8 am with registration and breakfast followed by
a keynote address by Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, Secretary General of CTO and joint
Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Tourism Development Company.  A panel
discussion, moderated by Glenn Bean, Director of Sales and Marketing, North America,
Bermuda Department of Tourism, will include Senator the Hon. Allen Chastanet,
Minister of Tourism and Transportation St. Lucia and Chairman, CTO; Hon. Aloun
N’Dombet-Assamba, Minister of Tourism, Entertainment and Culture, Jamaica; and
Michelle Ebanks, President, ESSENCE Communications, Inc.

In a show of support from the state of New York, Lila Kirton, Community Affairs
Director for New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer, will be in attendance on behalf
of the Governor. 

An Awards Luncheon sponsored by American Express Publishing, New York Magazine and
the Jamaica Tourist Board follows the marketing workshop where the “Jerry,” the
“Marcia Vickery Wallace Travel Journalism Award,” the “Marcella Martinez Award” and
a “Special Recognition Award” will be presented.
