Austrian focuses promotions on family

JetFriends, the new club from Austrian Airlines, Lauda Air, Austrian Arrows and Miles & More in Austria, has launched. Children and teenagers from 2 to 17 can register for a personal JetFriends Club card, enabling them to participate automatically in Miles & More and enjoy all the benefits it offers. Membership is free and offers thrills to old and young alike. Former Lauda Kids Club members and young Miles & More members are automatically upgraded to Miles & More JetFriends.

The personal JetFriends Club card allows children and teenagers to collect air miles with Miles & More, just like adults. The miles can then be exchanged for prizes, such as flights, gift items or adventure experiences - wholly in the founding spirit of Miles & More. As an initial credit, new Club members receive 2,000 bonus miles paid into their personal miles account. Accumulated miles do not expire throughout the entire period of JetFriends membership, and are kept in the child’s account until the teenager turns 18. A PIN code opens the doors to the world of air miles - to all transactions and personal data. The cool homepage at offers thrilling stories about the world of flying, fantastic competitions, a personal e-mail address to allow you to get to know new JetFriends all over the world, background images to download to your desktop, invitations to exciting events, and much more. And your stay on board passes in next to no time when you have an exciting and cool read like the twice-yearly appearing JetFriends magazine.

Smilo - the new mascot
Our mascot “Smilo” is there to assist our younger travellers, delighting children and teenagers with small gifts and a surprise greeting. On special days, e.g. for a birthday or at Christmas, Easter, etc. young JetFriends are sent a letter, and occasionally a small gift.

New Family Check-in Zone
Just in time for the start of the travel and holiday season, the new Family Check-in Zone is available for families travelling with children. Austrian Airlines Group and Star Alliance passengers are invited to enjoy the best of care both for scheduled flights and charter flights. Smilo, the new mascot, is on hand from now on until 10 June and again during June, July and August from Friday to Sunday, both morning and afternoon, to shorten waiting times with entertainment and small presents. And if you like the sound of JetFriends, you can register for the Club there.

Austrian CEO Mag. Alfred ?-tsch comments on the family focus behind this quality offensive: “Just in time for the start of the summer travel season, once again Austrian is sending a strong signal to the Austrian market and launching a major promotion focussing on children and families. The new JetFriends frequent flier programme especially for our younger travellers now opens up collecting air miles to young children and teenagers too. In addition to this, we want to make travelling with the whole family a really special experience - with a special Check-in Zone offering entertainment for our younger travellers, and special care on-board for children further underlining our “we care” mentality. All these are additional features in our wider service and quality offensive, which we are consistently developing and extending with a variety of attractive and valuable extras.”
