Press: Skyteam to set up Heathrow Hub

Skyteam, the commercial alliance of Air France-KLM with eight other airlines, has signed a draft agreement with BAA for the regrouping of its members’ operations at London Heathrow airport’s Terminal 4, This is according to French daily La Tribune on its Web site Tuesday, citing Air France-KLM’s vice-chairman of the board of directors Leo van Wijk.

Van Wijk, who is also chairman of Skyteam, said the hub would cover mainly the operations of alliance members Air France-KLM, Northwest Airlines Corp. (NWA), Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) and Continental Airlines Inc. (CAL).

The companies are said to want to make the most of the recent open skies agreement between the U.S. and the European Union.

The hub would be expected to operate in the spring of 2008.
