Sabre tool triples business this year

Hotel UpSell, Sabre Travel Network’s merchandising tool has nearly tripled the number of hotel properties in its network during the first five months of 2007, reaching the milestone of 5,000 hotel properties in May.“On average, Sabre Connected travel agents who successfully use Hotel UpSell increase their commission revenue on those transactions by more than 12 percent,” said Stephen Fitzgerald, vice president of Hotel and Car Distribution, Sabre Travel Network. “Not only does upselling help agents earn incremental commission revenue, but also it increases the expertise of the agents by offering value-added services for their customers.”

Launched in February 2006, Hotel UpSell had 1,700 properties by the end of the year, and today, more than 22,000 Sabre agency locations have upsell capabilities for 5,000 properties. By the end of 2007, the number of hotel properties is expected to exceed 6,500.

Hotel chains currently using Hotel UpSell include Accor, Carlson, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Golden Tulip Hospitality, InterContinental Hotels Group, Leading Hotels of the World and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
