IHG plans Belgrade hotel

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), is to return to the Serbian capital of Belgrade with a stunning new-build 325-room hotel.
The InterContinental Belgrade will be at the heart of a contemporary mixed-use development in New Belgrade that will include a 35 storey office tower as well as a stylish shopping mall that will open in the first half of 2010.

The hotel will offer the traditional comfort and luxury associated with the InterContinental hotel brand and will feature three restaurants, a bar and a luxurious health club, including a swimming pool. The property will also feature modern and stylish meetings space to appeal to the high levels of domestic and international business travellers who are taking advantage of the country’s fast growing economy.

IHG has signed the agreement to open this new state-of-the-art property with local Serbian company Delta Holdings. Delta has great local market knowledge and experience and are ideal partners for IHG to work with on this development.

This announcement continues the fast-paced growth of the InterContinental hotel brand in Europe, with recent signings including Kiev and Moscow, as well as the opening of the company’s flagship property in London and a new build property in Dubai set to open later this year.

Jennifer Fox, Chief Operating Officer, InterContinental Brands Europe, commented: “We are proud to be bringing a new luxury InterContinental hotel into the heart of New Belgrade as part of this wonderful mixed-use development. We have been present in the capital in the past, and it is testament to our belief in both the city and the country that we have managed to secure such a great location to continue our brand presence there.
