Barcelo shakes up US sales team

Barcelo
Hotels & Resorts has announced a restructuring and enhancement to its
sales and marketing for the Americas. Oscar Serrano has been promoted to
Managing Director of Sales & Marketing for Barcelo Hotels & Resorts in the
Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America. Serrano will report directly
to the Co- President of the company, Mr. Simon Barcelo Tous. Prior to
assuming this position Serrano was Senior Director of Sales & Marketing for
North America. Serrano, who is headquartered in Miami, FL, joined Barcelo
Hotels & Resorts in 1995 and has served in various management positions.
  Under this new enhanced sales and marketing structure for the Americas,
the company also appointed three Senior Directors of Sales & Marketing for
the travel industry that will report directly to Serrano. In the U.S.,
Anthony Stone, who joined Barcelo in 2006, will assume the title of Senior
Director of Sales & Marketing for the U.S.; in Canada, Rick McCauley who
joined the company in 2005 and is headquartered in Toronto, will be
promoted to Senior Director of Sales & Marketing; and headquartered in
Palma de Malloca, Spain, and serving the European Market is Diego
Villanueva, also appointed Senior Director of Sales & Marketing.
  “The restructuring and promotions are indicative of our commitment to
our growing number of all-inclusive luxury hotels and resorts throughout
the Americas,” said Simon Barcelo Tous, Co-President Barcelo Hotels &
Resorts. “Through Barcelo’s relationship with Playa Hotels & Resorts, S.L.,
a Grupo Barcelo private equity company, we are continuing to grow the
number of luxury properties we have in the Americas and look forward to
expanding sales throughout the travel industry,” added Mr. Barcelo.
  The Company has a growing presence in Latin America with 32
all-inclusive hotels and more than 10,000 guestrooms in Latin America and
the Caribbean. Recently Barcelo has added new upscale hotels in Mexico at:
The Barcelo Maya Beach Resort; The Barcelo La Jolla de Mismaloya Hotel in
Puerto Vallarta; The Barcelo Karmina Palace Hotel in Manzanillo; The
Barcelo Tucancun Beach Hotel and The Barcelo Costa Cancun Hotel in Cancun;
and The Barcelo Punta Cana Beach Hotel in the Dominican Republic.
