Press: Austrian faces labour dispute over salary

Austrian Airlines AG could be heading towards a labour dispute due to the joint opposition of ground staff and cabin crews to the more flexible salary scheme being advocated by the flag carrier’s management, according to the Viennese daily Der Standard. Although a meeting of the airline’s works council on Tuesday decided not to rule out industrial action, shop steward Alfred Junghans told Der Standard that ‘going on strike is not a topic at this time’.

Der Standard reports in an article headlined ‘A First Step to a Strike’ that management’s proposal to make a 10 pct component of salaries dependant on profits has led the ground staff and cabin crews to mount a joint effort in salary negotiations for the first time in 15 years
