As part of it’s on-going strategy to help airlines reduce distribution
costs, SITA is launching the latest version of its
E-Commerce Platform, specifically aimed at enabling travel agencies to book
directly on airlines reservations systems. The new release, which is
already live with launch customers, is ideally suited to regions where
Internet infrastructure is developing and where credit card usage remains
low. It enables airlines to build direct relationships with travel agencies
and to set commission levels, discounts and routing parameters. It will
also enable airlines to save millions in distribution fees which remain
stubbornly high in many markets.
Commenting on the release, Michael
Cunningham, Director, Internet & Integration Solutions, said “this latest
product release is further proof of SITA’s commitment to help airlines
improve margins, and places the SITA booking engine at the leading edge of
innovation in the industry”.
