Galileo boosts hotel programme

Galileo is adding three international hotel chains to its Best Available Rate (BAR) programme. The three participating hotel chains include ANA Hotels International, Langham Hotels International and Sol Melia Hotels.
Galileo was the first GDS to launch this type of BAR programme which offers the best available, unrestricted rates of approximately 30,000 hotels in 74 countries, over 93 chains and 100 brands.  The programme also provides agents with the convenience of “one-stop” shopping, and currently has the largest number of participating hotels, representing one of Asia’s leading hotel programmes of its kind.

Through Galileo’s exclusive BAR programme, travel agents have access to major hotel chains and their best available published, unrestricted rates either online or over the phone via the hotel chain’s reservation line.  Galileo-connected travel agents can be confident that the hotel rates displayed on their desktops are the best available, thereby reducing the need to shop outside of the GDS.

Participants in the Galileo BAR programme represent nearly 50% of Galileo’s hotel booking traffic worldwide.  In addition to the ANA, Langham and Sol Melia Hotels, the programme has seen encouraging take-up in the Asia Pacific with almost all the major hotel chains participating, including Mandarin Oriental Hotels Group; Marco Polo Hotels; Meritus Hotels & Resorts; Millennium & Copthorne; Oberoi Hotels & Resorts; Raffles Hotels & Resorts; and Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts.

Galileo’s AP Business Development Manager for Hotel & Car Service, Joe Lim commented “Galileo is pleased to offer our agents leadership in hotel content and welcome ANA Hotels International, Langham Hotels International and Sol Melia Hotels to one of Asia’s most successful hotel programmes.”
