TotalTravel.com is the most visited online travel guide in Australia, according to new statistics released by internet monitoring service Hitwise.

In Hitwise’s latest report on travel websites in the world visited by Australians (week ending April 14), TotalTravel.com is the most visited online travel guide and directory, ahead of similar sites like TripAdvisor.

In March this year, the TotalTravel.com website had 1.5 million visits. There are now 60,000 visits to the site each day.

Overall, TotalTravel.com is the seventh most visited travel website, behind mapping service Whereis.com (1st), airlines Qantas (2nd), Virgin Blue (3rd) and Jetstar (5th), and accommodation website Wotif.com (4th).

TotalTravel.com global marketing manager Paul Fisher said he was delighted with the results, and it was a fantastic achievement for the company.

“TotalTravel.com is becoming the destination for Australians planning their holidays. We recently experienced a huge surge of pre-Easter traffic on our Australian site, with approximately 190,000 visitors over a three-day period,” he said.
