Accor spreads Mercure brand in UK

Accor Hotels has opened the doors to 24 new Mercure hotels across
the UK.
The hotels with a total of 2511 rooms are owned by Moorfield
Real Estate Fund who recently purchased the hotels from Macdonald
Hotels.

Mercure is Accor Hotels’ mid and upper-mid market brand. Until today
Accor Hotels have operated 2 Mercure hotels in the UK, Mercure London
City Bankside and recently opened Mercure Brigstow, Bristol. This now
creates a UK network of 26 Mercure hotels.

Mercure has established itself as a collection of hotels with character
and individuality with strong ties to their local area. With almost 750
hotels worldwide, the strength of the brand’s network has been in
Continental Europe, Australia and Africa.

Each Mercure retains its own character and individuality but is
reassuringly backed by the quality standards that come with an
international hotel brand. A strong emphasis is placed on establishing a
service that is always personal and warm and in the best traditions of
hotel-keeping.

Special focus has been given by Mercure hotels to their restaurants with
dishes giving high quality local products pride of place and
complimented by the ‘Les Grands Vins’ Mercure wine list, a selection of
carefully selected wines sold at prices that are affordable because of
the brand’s policy of applying small fixed margins.

Roger Smith, Director of Marketing and Distribution said “Mercure is a
well established brand in Continental Europe and working with Moorfield
has given us a great opportunity to introduce a substantial Mercure
network into the UK. With its reputation for good service, good food,
and excellent ‘Les Grands Vins’ we believe that the Mercure brand will
add another dimension to the hotels we shall now be managing.”

Examples of hotels acquired by Moorfield Real Estate Fund and being
converted to the Mercure brand include The Castle Hotel, Windsor; Queens
Hotel, Cheltenham; Holland House Hotel and Spa Cardiff and Ardoe House
Hotel and Spa, Aberdeen.

Accor already has 97 hotels with a total of 14,111 rooms in the UK,
comprising of 2 Sofitel, 30 Novotel, 2 Mercure, 47 Ibis, 6 Etap Hotel
and 10 Formule 1.
