American Airlines has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation to operate a daily nonstop flight between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Buenos Aires, Argentina, starting Oct. 28, 2007. “American applauds and appreciates the efforts of both the U.S. and Argentine governments in recently reaching an agreement to expand air service opportunities between our countries,” said Peter Dolara, American’s Senior Vice President - Miami, Caribbean and Latin America.

“The new agreement, which will double the number of flights between the United States and Argentina in the next two years, comes at a time when demand for travel to and from Latin America is increasing.”

American plans to fly the route with its 219-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which features 30 Business Class seats and 189 seats in the Coach cabin. Buenos Aires will be the 22nd nonstop international destination from American’s hub at Chicago.

“Chicago passengers have long expressed a desire to have nonstop access to Buenos Aires, which is home to more than 3 million people and is one of the key financial and cultural hubs in Argentina,” said Thomas Aichele, American’s Vice President - Central Division Passenger Sales. “Our O’Hare hub, with approximately 520 departures each day to more than 130 nonstop destinations, will also provide convenient connections to Buenos Aires for passengers who live elsewhere in the United States, Canada and other parts of the world.”

The new Chicago service complements American’s existing service to Argentina. American operates two daily nonstop flights to Buenos Aires from its Miami hub, plus once-daily nonstop flights from both its Dallas/Fort Worth hub and from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

From Chicago, American and American Eagle provide nonstop service to the following international destinations: Shanghai, China; Tokyo, Japan; Delhi, India; Dublin and Shannon, Ireland; London and Manchester, England; Brussels, Belgium; Frankfurt, Germany; Paris, France; Rome, Italy; Nassau, Bahamas; Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Halifax, Canada; Acapulco, Cancun, Los Cabos, Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
