Gophila.com reports record hits

After a complete makeover that included many technological upgrades and content enhancements, gophila.com, the Philadelphia region’s official tourism Web site, has surpassed all previous visitation statistics. Visits to the site increased 26% in 2006. In fact, visits jumped from 3.6 million and 17 million page views in 2005 to nearly 4.5 million visits and 25 million page views in 2006. During the first two months of 2007 alone, the site is averaging almost 14,000 visits per day.

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) unveiled gophila.com’s brand new look and user-friendly features in November 2005. The redesign of gophila.com focused on enhancing navigation and content by adding more than 1,500 vibrant Philadelphia images and photographs and updating information on 5,000 regional attractions.

A recent addition to the site is a dynamic BYOB restaurant map, employing customized Google Map functionality. The interactive map features more than 130 restaurants across the region, which can then be sorted and viewed by cuisine and neighborhood. In addition, the map also displays the nearest Wine & Spirits Store location for each restaurant.

The popularity of gophila.com has extended beyond the United States, with almost 8% of visitation coming from international countries, including Canada.

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) makes Philadelphia and The Countryside(TM) a premier destination through marketing and image building that increases business and promotes the region’s vitality.
