Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is to fly twice daily between London Heathrow and Abu Dhabi.
The airline is increasing services from 12 to 14 per week by offering departures each lunchtime and evening for passengers flying from the capital to Abu Dhabi, as well as convenient connections onwards across Etihad’s global network.
Peter Dunkin, Etihad Airway’s general manager UK & Ireland, said: “This move is in direct response to growing passenger demand for more flights from London Heathrow. This move reaffirms Etihad’s commitment to develop its operation from London Heathrow, as well as continuing to offer UK-based customers easy access to key international trading hubs in the Middle East and beyond via Abu Dhabi.”
The airline’s London Heathrow route is served by modern Airbus A330-200 and A340-500 aircraft, configured in three classes with a capacity of 240 seats each day.
The carrier currently connects British travellers onwards to 37 destinations via its Abu Dhabi hub including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Johannesburg, Pakistan and the Indian sub-continent. It launches services to Sydney today (March 26), and plans to begin flights to Dublin and Milan later this year.
Return fares from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi start from £318 return in Coral zone (economy class) valid from April 9 - July 15.
