bmibaby attempts world record
bmibaby is attempting to set a new ‘unofficial’ world record for the largest gathering of people wearing bowler hats in an airport. The event will take place at 11am at East Midlands airport today. The event marks a week of birthday celebrations.
The airline recently launched a radical new set of services specifically tailored for the needs of today’s business traveller, many of these are being offered complimentary and for other services there is a small charge. All passengers booking a flight on bmibaby will now be able to benefit from flexible flights, on line check in, executive lounge access, unlimited cabin baggage allowance and the reassurance of knowing that a seat will be reserved for them. In addition, passengers will also soon be able to earn miles on the bmi Diamond Club reward scheme.
David Hodge, marketing director, bmibaby, said:

“We are celebrating a ‘high five’ of five years of low cost flying this week and as part of the celebrations we are attempting to set an ‘unofficial’ new world record for the largest gathering of people wearing bowler hats in an airport. Passengers and the bmibaby team will be getting involved in this fun event and will even be doing the conga!
“The unofficial world record attempt marks the official launch of our new business passenger initiative which will radically change the way business people travel.
“bmibaby will continue to invest in its network and service from East Midlands airport and fares will continue to be priced aggressively starting from just £21.99 one way, including taxes.”
To celebrate a ‘high five’ of five years of low cost flying bmibaby’s marketing director, David Hodge and the bmibaby team shared champagne and birthday cake with passengers checking in for the Malaga, Alicante, Palma and Prague flights on Tuesday (20th March 2007) at East Midlands Airport.
