JAT inks long-term SITA deal

JAT Airways has awarded SITA a
six-year, multi-million dollar contract to provide the airline with network and
system integration services across 28 sites worldwide as part of a solution
specially designed to optimise the airline’s IT spend.JAT Airways provides international passenger and cargo services to 36 destinations
in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as regional services in South
East Europe. The airline needed a solution from SITA which would help it to be more
cost-effective and to beat off stiff competition across its route network which was
used by over one million passengers last year.

SITA worked closely with JAT management to identify the underlying business
requirements and to design a solution which met the airline’s specific needs. The
approach enables the delivery of solutions from multiple 3rd party providers but JAT
benefits from one contract, one contact and one accountable partner, namely SITA.

Dragan Bukatarevic, CIO at JAT Airways stated, “We have been working with SITA for
over 50 years, and they understand our business and challenges like no other
provider. As a result, the modular solution they bring to the table is designed to
meet our specific evolving needs, integrating services from 3rd parties with the
network SITA already provides. Savings in network costs have enabled us to increase
investment in applications and we are now well positioned for future growth.”

Ilya Gutlin, SITA Regional Vice President, East and Central Europe, said,  “By
working with SITA, JAT Airways can focus on their core business of transporting
passengers, and leave worrying about IT to us. This solution will optimise the
airline’s IT capacity as we can fully integrate 3rd party services with existing
infrastructure.”

Once the solution is fully deployed, JAT Airways will benefit from an ERP solution
and a modern hybrid network infrastructure which includes a robust IP VPN
connectivity at their headquarters and lower cost DSL access across 28 remote sites
worldwide. The implementation of the overall solution is expected to take about 10
months, but benefits from the network element of the solution were almost
instantaneous.
