Rezidor enlarges Irish portfolio

The Rezidor Hotel Group will take over the management of the three former Great Southern Airport Hotels in Ireland and strengthen its position as one of the leading airport hotel operators in Europe. The properties at Dublin Airport (229 rooms) and Cork Airport (81 rooms) will be managed as Radisson SAS hotels and the property at Shannon Airport (115 rooms) will become a Park Inn.

“The three new properties are our first airport properties in Ireland”, comments Kurt Ritter, President and CEO of The Rezidor Hotel Group. “Airport hotels are an integral part of our portfolio - excellently located, easy to use and with unique service concepts.” Ritter also underlines the importance of the Irish market: “Radisson SAS was recently voted best hotel group at the Irish Travel Trade Awards, for an unprecedented third year in a row. These additional hotels - bringing our portfolio in the country to 15 properties - will build on the strength that the Radisson SAS brand already has in Ireland and will improve the brand awareness for Park Inn”.

The hotel in Dublin is prominently located close to the main road into Dublin International Airport (20 million passengers in 2006) and only a short distance from the M50 motorway. It offers a restaurant, an Irish bar, a lounge bar and 30 meeting rooms. In Cork, the hotel is located a very short walk from the new passenger terminal at Cork Airport, the second busiest airport in Ireland, and comprises a restaurant, a bar and nine meeting rooms. The property at Shannon Airport is the only hotel operating within the airport complex and comprises a restaurant, an Irish bar and five meeting rooms. The airport is an important stopover airport for transatlantic flights to the USA and Canada.
