Amadeus develops UK rail solution

Amadeus has partnered with Fujitsu Services to develop a new UK rail distribution product.A key player in the rail industry - Fujitsu developed and operates the Rail Journey Information Service (RJIS) and the award winning STAR ticket issuing system - Fujitsu’s partnership with Amadeus comes at a time of significance for the UK rail industry as the Elgar system ceases to be used as a distribution system for UK Rail.

The new rail solution will provide agents with an easy-to-use, travel agent rail booking and ticketing solution, specifically designed to increase agency productivity, minimise training time and encourage the cross selling of products.  By being fully integrated into the Amadeus Selling Platform, agents will be able to make air, car, hotel, rail and other services bookings in one PNR.  Initially just including UK rail information, Amadeus will continue to work towards the development of a fully-integrated rail distribution platform for the future that will also provide European rail content.
