Rotana plans Abu Dhabi expansion

Rotana is unveiling BurJurman Rotana Suites in Dubai and is revealing plans for three new five star developments in Abu Dhabi
BurJuman Rotana Suites opened its doors this month to offer leisure and business travellers to Dubai a whole new level of luxury and sophistication.

Conveniently located on the Trade Centre Road, the BurJuman Rotana Suites is directly connected to the prestigious BurJuman shopping mall with its host of exclusive brands from around the world.  The property is just five minutes from the Dubai World Trade Centre, the Convention Centre and a ten minute drive from the Dubai International Airport. Jebel Ali Free Zone, Internet City and Media City are all just a short drive away.

The property is a collection of 148 guestrooms, including upscale one-bedroom suites, duplex town houses and a penthouse.  All offer classically elegant furnishings, luxury bedding, pampering bath amenities and dazzling views of the glamorous city of Dubai.  Room facilities include complimentary tea & coffee making facilities, kitchenette, high speed Internet connection, complimentary daily local newspaper, IDD telephone with voice mail, multi-channel satellite television, mini fridge, in-room safe and hairdryer.

Guests can feast in the all day dining restaurant, order 24-hour room service or choose from the wide selection of restaurants and cafes just a stone’s throw away from the hotel, in the BurJuman Mall. Other facilities include a multi-functional fitness centre, a temperature controlled swimming pool, with kids area, and seven meeting and banqueting rooms with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, ideal for conferences, private dinner parties and corporate events.

In addition, Rotana Hotels has announced plans to expand its portfolio of hotels in Abu Dhabi from three to six by the end of 2009, confirming its status as the largest operator in the city.  The first of the three new five star properties to be signed is the Khalidiya Palace Rotana Resort due to open early 2008.  The property will have 400 luxurious rooms, suites and serviced apartments, outstanding food and beverage venues, six meeting rooms, business facilities, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and extensive water sport activities on one of the island’s most stunning beaches.

Rotana Hotels has also signed a management agreement with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Al-Mada Tourism Investment Company LLC who have joined forces to build a multi use complex called Park Rotana Hotel & Suites, which is expected to be partially completed by the end of 2007.  The complex will feature 550 rooms and suites and 150 apartments, plus office space.  The hotel will have restaurants, meeting rooms and leisure and fitness facilities.

Lastly, Rotana Hotels has signed an agreement to manage a luxury resort on Saadiyat Island (Island of Happiness), a new residential and tourism destination taking shape just 500 metres offshore from Abu Dhabi.  The five-star Rotana Resort Saadiyat Beach will be built on the secluded Saadiyat Beach and is expected to be completed by the end of 2009.

The 400-450 room luxury hotel will boast its own private stretch of beach, a variety of food & beverage outlets with meeting & conference facilities in addition to a spa and a fully equipped Bodylines Health & Fitness Club.

Rotana Hotels’ existing properties in Abu Dhabi are also undergoing expansion and refurbishment.  Al Ain Rotana Hotel is currently having further luxurious rooms and suites added as well as extensive recreational facilities, while Al Rawda Rotana Suites is undergoing a major renovation and will reopen with an exciting new look in April 2007.

Mr. Selim El Zyr, President & CEO of Rotana Hotels said: “Abu Dhabi is a thriving, cosmopolitan city and although we are not anticipating a surge of “mass tourism”, we hope to appeal to the more discerning tourist - someone who wants to experience something new in surroundings that are unspoilt, but with all the modern day luxuries. We are working on several additional properties in Abu Dhabi, which will be announced at a later stage”.
