IHG has announced that its eighth Hotel Indigo has opened in Ottawa, Canada.Situated in Ottawa’s
bustling central business district and just four blocks from Parliament Hill, this
106-room hotel is Hotel Indigo’s first property in Canada.

Located at the corner of Laurier Avenue West and Metcalfe Street, Hotel Indigo
Ottawa is a conversion of a historic 1900s building that once served as a community
YMCA. The six-story property is owned by Gillin Engineering & Construction Limited
and managed by Atlific Hotels & Resorts, under a license agreement with a company in
the InterContinental Hotels Group.

This winter, visitors and residents alike can take advantage of the hotel’s close
proximity to the Rideau Canal, which is central to life in Ottawa. The new hotel
will open just in time for Ottawa’s famed Winterlude, one of North America’s largest
winter festivals centered on the world’s longest outdoor skating rink.  Whether
visiting Canada’s capital for the first time or reliving childhood memories on the
Rideau Canal, Hotel Indigo’s inviting lobby makes it a perfect respite for travelers
and city dwellers alike.

Providing stylish accommodations and a personalized service experience in a unique
and intimate atmosphere, Hotel Indigo Ottawa is a branded boutique hotel designed to
appeal to lifestyle-focused guests who desire affordable luxury, genuine service and
an alternative to traditional hotels.

Renewal is the soul of Hotel Indigo’s retail-inspired design concept - thoughtful
changes are made throughout the year to keep the hotel fresh, similar to the way
retailers change their window displays.  The renewal concept provides even the most
frequent guest a unique experience with every stay. Hotel Indigo’s guestrooms
feature signature murals, area rugs, and duvets and slip covers that will change
periodically, while public spaces will be transformed seasonally through changing
artwork, murals and directional signage.  As Canada’s first Hotel Indigo, the
Ottawa hotel’s “opening season” murals will feature winter wonder intermingled with
striking murals of birch trees, wheat fields and irises, showcasing some of Canada’s
most recognizable natural offerings.

Other signature Hotel Indigo design elements include cozy, airy and inviting
guestrooms with plush bedding; hardwood-style flooring and spa-inspired glass
showers. Hotel Indigo Ottawa offers free high-speed internet access in all
guestrooms and wireless in the public spaces.  In addition, there are four meeting
rooms, the largest room at 1200 sq.-ft. will seat up to 130 attendees, two smaller
rooms seat from 45-60 people and there is also a permanent boardroom for up to 8
participants. Rounding out the offering for lifestyle-focused guests is a full
fitness center complete with indoor swimming pool.

Whether guests desire a quick bite before a meeting or a full meal after a day of
sightseeing, Hotel Indigo Ottawa offers guests exactly what they need. Phi, a
gourmet fast casual restaurant refreshingly brings the unique Hotel Indigo approach
to breakfast, lunch and dinner. With an emphasis on ever changing seasonal
ingredients Phi offers both starters and entrees that tempt. A visit to Phi should
always include a decadent cup of Starbuck’s coffee, latte or cappuccino. In the
evening, guests can enjoy their favorite beverage in casual elegance at Phi.

“Hotel Indigo perfectly combines the unique attributes of a small boutique hotel
with the consistency of service and amenities you expect from a traditional hotel,”
said John C. Dunn, vice president, Sales & Marketing, Atlific Hotels & Resorts.
“We’re excited to be involved in the launch of this fresh, new hotel concept in
Canada.  Our branded boutique hotel fits well within this market and will create a
superior hospitality experience for business and leisure travelers.”
