Sila Evason Hideaway gets green status

Sila Evason Hideaway & Spa at Samui - managed by Six Senses Resorts & Spas - has achieved the prestigious Green Globe Benchmarked status under the worldwide Green Globe Benchmarking Program, which recognizes the property’s commitment to operating at the world’s highest environmental standard. In achieving Benchmark status, Sila Evason Hideaway has committed to benchmarking its energy and water consumption, total waste production and community commitment; along with implementing an integrated environmental and social policy.

In particular, it has achieved Best Practice results in six indicators: Water Saving, Waste Recycling, Community Commitment, Community Contributions, Paper Products and Pesticide Products. These measures will ensure efficient practices, cost savings and secure a sustainable future for the property. The resort had to achieve a level above the Green Globe benchmark figure, which is measured against the performance of operations of similar size, operating within the same sector and region.

To further demonstrate their commitment to environmentally sustainable tourism, the resort will now proceed to the final and highest level of the Green Globe Program - Certification.  This process involved a rigorous onsite assessment conducted by a Green Globe accredited third party auditor. By successfully completing the onsite assessment, Sila Evason Hideaway will have demonstrated that it is committed to the Green Globe Company Standard.

Consumers visiting tourism operations in the Green Globe program can be assured that they are supporting an operator who is committed to ongoing sustainability and the implementation of a number of sound environmental practices.
