Top UK role for Santiago at Vanguard

Vanguard Rental, the parent company for the National, Alamo and Guy Salmon brands,
has appointed Ron Santiago as Vice President UK Operations. He takes over the role
from Brian Jayes who, after 20 years with the business, will be retiring in June

This appointment exploits Santiago’s extensive operational expertise and strong
affinity with the customer experience to further extend the market share of the
brands in the UK. His recent role as Vice President, International Sales and
Marketing, EMEA for National Car Rental, also gives Santiago a valuable
understanding of airport operations which will be crucial in his new position, which
includes responsibility for all UK airports.

Santiago has 19 years experience in the rental industry. He joined Alamo in 1987 as
a Rental Agent at Miami International Airport and held a number of key positions
across Europe, culminating in UK Operations Director in 1998.  In 2000, he was
appointed as Vice President, International Sales and Marketing, EMEA, for the
National brand, contributing to the on-going expansion of the network and growth of
the brand across these key regions.  In his new role, Santiago has a great
opportunity to develop the UK operations for the National, Alamo and Guy Salmon
brands, which lie at the heart of the company’s success.

“This appointment offers me new challenges and an opportunity to take our UK
Operations to new levels of success” confirmed Ron Santiago.  “We will continue to
build on our position as a market leader in the UK by focusing on the needs of our
customers. By investing in service delivery, quality and innovation I aim to put the
customer at the centre of everything we do, maximising the development opportunities
for the National, Alamo and Guy Salmon brands in the UK.”

John Leigh, Senior Vice President adds: “We are delighted to appoint Ron to this
role - he brings exactly the right mix of skills and experience for this critical
position within our business.

“Taking over from Brian Jayes will be no mean feat.  Brian’s knowledge and expertise
gained during 25 years in the rental industry is respected throughout the sector and
culminated in his appointment as Chairman of the BVRLA Rental Committee which he
retains until May. Brian will continue to work with me on a number of projects prior
to his departure in June when we will all wish him a long and happy retirement.”
