Press: Air France-KLM decides against Alitalia bid

Air France-KLM has decided against making an offer for struggling Italian carrier Alitalia SpA, according to La Tribune’s Web site. Air France-KLM was put off by the price and conditions sought by the Italian government, the newspaper says. However, Air France-KLM is reserving the right to change its stance, the newspaper says.

In December, the Italian Treasury ministry published details of the tender for the sale of its 49.9% Alitalia stake. The Italian government will accept expressions of interest for Alitalia until Jan. 29. Air France already owns a 2% stake in Alitalia.
