Czech passenger levels top 5.5mn

In 2006, Czech Airlines carried nearly 5.5 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 4.7 per cent. In 2005, ?SA carried 5.2 million passengers and a year earlier 4.3 million.  Regular passenger traffic accounts for the greatest share of this result, with the number of such passengers having increased by 3.4 per cent year-on-year, reaching nearly 4.7 million.  In 2006, ?SA operated over 39,000 flights, which represented an increase of 1.1 per cent over the previous year.

“This was the first time in its history that ?SA has carried nearly 5.5 million passengers in a single calendar year.  We expect the number of passengers to grow in the future too, as the impact of the new business model becomes apparent.  Additionally, the overall passenger capacity will grow with the arrival of the new Airbus aircraft, which have a greater number of seats,” said ?SA’s Vice-President for Sales Petr ?ehák with respect to the passenger load figures.
