PRESS: BA waits on strike ballot result

According to reports in the UK press British Airways is now waiting on the result of a strike ballot of its cabin crew staff in a row over working practices. The reports suggest that the Transport and General Workers Union is confident the vote of 11,000 workers will back a strike after a serious breakdown in industrial relations.

The BBC website reports that the union has said that BA’s attitude towards sickness, planned pension scheme changes and pay rates for some grades are all factors in the decision to ballot members.

Meanwhile BA is said it was keen to avert industrial action and the two sides are expected to have further talks on Tuesday.
