Carrentals tackles CO2 emissions
Carrentals.co.uk has teamed up with The CarbonNeutral Company to offer customers the ability to offset the environmental impact of driving a hire car.
Travellers booking a hire car through Carrentals.co.uk will now be given the option to make their car Carbon Neutral by paying 25p per day to offset the CO2 emissions produced during the hire period. The offset scheme selected by Carrentals is a forestry scheme in Snowdonia - every tonne of CO2 produced by customers will be matched by sufficient forestry to soak up one tonne of CO2 as the forest grows to maturity.
The average rental car travels 90 miles a day and emits an average of 0.027 tonnes of carbon dioxide per day. Now Carrentals.co.uk customers can reduce this impact by selecting the number of days they will be driving and paying to compensate for the CO2 emissions produced.
Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk, said: “Car hire is a key element of travel, both in the UK and abroad, and as one of the major companies in this area we wanted to give our customers the ability to offset their CO2 emissions as a natural part of the booking.
“Every month we hear new figures on the damage being done to the environment. By paying a small amount car hire can be made Carbon Neutral and we expect a growing number of our customers to take up this option.”
