US fuels Cheapflights expansion

Online media company Cheapflights.com is adding three new staff members to support its growing US operations. Director of Marketing Carl Schwartz, Manager of Advertising Operations Lucia Page and Copywriter Laura Winger recently joined the company; are all based in Cheapflights’ US headquarters office in Boston, Massachusetts.

Cheapflights.com is the most complete flight deals publisher, listing nearly one million low-cost airfare deals from hundreds of travel brands, including Priceline, Lufthansa, MyLowfare.com and WestJet—offering consumers a collection of low-cost airfare options not available elsewhere.

Carl Schwartz, a 12-year digital marketing veteran, has been named director of marketing for the US. Mr. Schwartz’s primary role will be to expand and oversee the company’s online marketing initiatives to achieve Cheapflights’ aggressive user acquisition and retention goals. He previously served as Monster Worldwide’s vice president of analytics, where he was instrumental in dramatically increasing the volume of job seekers and employers transacting through Monster. Prior to Monster, he held a variety of Internet marketing and technology roles at Fidelity, Hasbro and Lycos, as well as at several small Internet start-ups.

Lucia Page joined Cheapflights as manager of advertising operations, where she will focus on optimizing advertising inventory in support of revenue goals. Ms. Page brings ten years of marketing and advertising experience to Cheapflights, including broad expertise across Web design and development, email marketing and online advertising operations. Lucia previously worked at Boston.com.

Mr. Schwartz and Ms. Page will report to Cheapflights’ US General Manager, Michael Bennett, who joined the company last spring from Monster Worldwide.

“The continued addition of talent and experience to our US operations underscores Cheapflights’ commitment to growing our US business,” said Michael Bennett, Cheapflights’ US general manager. “As we continue to expand our US footprint, Carl, Lucia and Laura will be instrumental in helping Cheapflights solidify a leadership position in the US—the largest Internet and flights market in the world.”
