Riga to build convention centre

A new convention centre, as well as several hotels and a new expo centre will be built at the Riga Airport by autumn 2009. It is planned that the largest venue in the convention centre will house 5000 people in theatre style.

The convention centre will be an integrated part of the new Riga International Airport Business Park.  It will be located next to the Arrival hall at Riga International Airport.
The park will include several hotels.  Radisson SAS will operate a 4+ star hotel, Ryanair Inn will be a 2+ star hotel and operators for one or two more hotels will soon be announced.  The convention centre as well as the expo centre will be located between the hotels.  The estimated capacity of the convention centre’s largest hall in a theatre style format is 5000.  The expo centre will have approx. 50 000 m2 of exhibition space.  The expo centre will also be able to be used for mega-congresses.  Although one of the hotels will open already in the summer of 2008, the convention centre is planned to open in autumn 2009.

The aim of the developer EBO International is to develop the expo centre into the most modern multifunctional exhibition centre in Northern Europe and the business park as the preferred destination for exhibitions, conferences and events as well as an ideal location for local and international head office functions.
