Gulf Air appoints Bahrain board member

Gulf Air is appointing Michael Wette to its Board of Directors, where, together with existing members, he will represent the Bahrain shareholding.

A German national, Mr Wette is a graduate of WHU - Koblenz School of Corporate Management in Germany and, in addition to specialist studies in strategic management and investment management, he holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Following his first posting in Frankfurt as a Corporate Finance Analyst in Mergers and Acquisitions at Drueker & Co, he moved to Roland Berger & Partner and joined their Aviation Competence Centre in 1997. He served a multitude of airlines on strategic assignments in network management, pricing, operational issues and business planning. In 2000 he moved to Zurich, where he became Partner and Director of the Transportation and Logistics Group, playing a key role in re-launching a European national carrier and the planning and transaction of one of the largest European airline mergers.

Since 2004 he has built up the business for his company in the Middle East, subsequently opening the first regional office for Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in 2006. Today he is Partner & Managing Director of Roland Berger Middle East in Bahrain. He advises major corporations in the region on strategic issues, their business planning and reorganisation.
