UK airports in competition probe

BAA’s airports services look likely to come under scrutiny following a call from the Office of Fair Trading for an inquiry into them by the Competition Commission.BAA, which was bought by Spanish company Ferrovial earlier this year owns Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Southampton airports in the south-east of England and Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen in Scotland.

Press reports suggest that the OFT believes the current market structure “does not deliver best value for air travellers in the UK”.
