Hunt takes lead role at Cortex

Cortex Resort Living has appointed Craig
Hunt - former Vice-Chairman of InterContinental Hotels and Resorts and President
of Holiday Inn Hotels - as Chief Executive Officer.Harnessing more than
30 years of hotel and resort experience with the largest hotel group in
the world, Hunt brings with him expertise in marketing, operations and
development to provide strategic decision-making to fulfill the Cortex
mission of developing the highest-quality, environmentally-sound resort
communities. To date, Cortex developments total more than $750 million
in projected residential resort sales.

“Cortex is truly a unique development company with grass roots. The four
principals are all Key West natives and have a deep passion for this
remarkable chain of islands. The Keys are in their blood,” said Hunt.
“That passion, combined with proficiency in disciplines ranging from
real estate sales and accounting to real estate law and engineering,
makes Cortex the ideal team to develop a new brand of luxury resorts in
a location as unique as the Florida Keys. I am proud to be part of such
a dynamic team.”

Hunt - an avid fisherman - relocated to Key West in 2002 in order to
enjoy the resort lifestyle he had spent so many years defining. There he
met Cortex principals Everett Atwell, Derek Parker, Ralph Sanchez and
Tim Koenig and invested in multiple projects throughout the Florida
Keys. While initially drawn together by a mutual love for the Keys - an
area that Hunt likes to call the ‘U.S.‘s Caribbean’ - the forged
relationship quickly developed into one of mutual respect. Hunt
partnered with Cortex as a consultant followed by a role as Managing
Director of Keys Luxury Resorts, Cortex’s resort rental program.

“The lifestyle I live in Key West is the same lifestyle Cortex is
offering at all of their properties. It’s a lifestyle of authentic
barefoot luxury, escapism and pure relaxation. I am excited to have the
opportunity to promote this way of life…. I just hope I still have
time to fish,” jokes Hunt.

Joining Holiday Corporation in 1971 as a management trainee, Hunt rose
through the ranks to become President of Holiday Inn Hotels, maintaining
full responsibility for operations, development and marketing of more
than 150 owned and 3,000 franchised hotels world-wide. In 1999, Hunt was
promoted to Vice-Chairman of Bass Hotels & Resorts and assumed global
responsibilities for Corporate Development, Human Resources, Corporate
Affairs, Performance Planning and Special Projects. Along with the Chief
Information Officer, he was also appointed co-chair of the company’s
Business Technology Board. Hunt’s three-decade tenure with Six
Continents Hotels culminated with the role of Vice-Chairman.

“We are extremely honored to have someone like Craig join the Cortex
team in such an influential leadership position,” said Everett Atwell,
Cortex Resort Living chief operating officer. “Craig brings with him an
immense credibility in the industry and a caliber of loyalty that is
rare today.”
