Sabre signs up new UAE carrier

6th Dec 2006

Ras Al Khaimah-based RAK
Airways, the United Arab Emirates’ newest carrier, will launch its service in the first quarter of 2007 using the
Sabre(R) Dispatch Manager dispatch and flight planning system.

The software helps produce and maintain optimized flight plans for
flights to and from destinations in the Middle East and elsewhere. By
selecting Dispatch Manager to provide business-critical functionality,
RAK Airways joins more than 200 carriers worldwide that rely on the
long track record of Sabre Airline Solutions for providing fully
automated and integrated flight operations solutions.

“RAK Airways selected Dispatch Manager because of the flexibility
of the system and the potential for fuel savings and increased
payloads,” said Jack Romero, CEO of RAK Airways.

Dispatch Manager offers a sophisticated computerized tool that
enables the air carrier to save fuel and other operating costs for
each flight by optimizing the horizontal route definition, the
vertical profile and the aircraft speed.

“As a start-up airline, RAK Airways has to ensure that critical
business areas will be ready to go on the first day of operations,”
said Murray Smyth, Sabre Airline Solutions’ senior vice-president,

“The market in the Middle East is growing fast, particularly in
the UAE, after the successful launch of several regional carriers. The
dynamics of the region are key elements that will contribute to the
success of the Value Focused Carrier business model in the region, and
our solutions and services are perfectly suited to contribute to this
region with phenomenal growth.”
