Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is to manage an exclusive hideaway and residences currently under development on Dellis Cay, Turks and Caicos, in the British West Indies. The private island retreat is scheduled to open in late 2009.

Mandarin Oriental Dellis Cay, Turks and Caicos will be located on an unspoiled 35-acre beachfront site on the scenic south western shore of the island, surrounded by pristine white sands, sheltered coral reefs and protected mangrove reserves. The secluded hideaway will offer an array of luxurious leisure experiences as well as unparalleled opportunities for home ownership.

The hideaway will feature 25 exclusive suites, 17 private stand-alone villas and 78 multi-roomed apartments. Blending with the local environment, all accommodations will be designed with expansive outdoor terraces and balconies providing panoramic views of the ocean and beachfront. The renowned Italian architect, Piero Lissoni, has been retained to create a chic, contemporary style with delicate Asian touches in keeping with the luxury hotel group’s oriental origins.

The apartments and villas will be managed as Residences at Mandarin Oriental, for private use or to be included in the inventory of the hideaway’s accommodation.

Exceptional landscape design will be a major focus of the hideaway with infinity-edge swimming pools, sun decks, tennis courts, a beach club, a well-equipped reading library and resort boutiques. A choice of innovative cuisine will be featured at each of the four restaurants and bars in a variety of dining settings. As with all Mandarin Oriental hideaways, the comprehensive Spa at Mandarin Oriental Dellis Cay will focus on a holistic approach to wellness with rejuvenating experiences to soothe, restore and revitalize. Japanese architect Kengo Kuma has been commissioned to create the dramatic 22,000 square foot spa, which will be built over a tranquil lake. The spa will feature 15 individual rooms and VIP couples suites, state-of-the-art heat and water treatments, and an outdoor Watsu pool.
