SIA launches new cabin products

Singapore Airlines (SIA) marked the North American debut of its $360 million new cabin products designed to provide passengers in all three classes with more space, comfort and control of their in-flight experience. The enhanced suite of products and services features new First, Business and Economy Class seats, including the largest First and Business Class seats in the sky, and increased functionality in the on-demand in-flight entertainment system, which boasts more than 1,000 entertainment offerings.

The unveiling coincides with the carrier’s expansion as the Boeing 777-300ER (extended range) and A380 aircraft begin to join the fleet. The new B777-300ER will debut in the United States in January serving San Francisco three times per week, and will expand to daily service in March.

First Class

Singapore Airlines’ new First Class sets an industry benchmark for luxury and style in air travel. The large premium cabin distinguishes itself with just eight seats on the B777-300ER, offering each First Class customer complete privacy and enhanced attention from the cabin crew.

Upholstered in leather, the new seat, at 35-inches wide, is the most spacious first class product ever to be introduced by a commercial airline.

Its innovative design offers premium customers the flexibility to use the seat as a daybed for lounging, reading and entertainment while relaxing comfortably in their favorite positions just as they would at home. By night, it converts into a full-sized flat bed that offers customers the ability to rest in their natural sleeping position.

The new First Class seat is the ultimate platform to enjoy the exceptional functionalities of the KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system, offering a sleek 23-inch LCD screen with a business panel equipped with USB ports, an in- seat, adaptor-free, power supply and new active noise reduction headsets.

Other exclusive features include a private vanity area, an easy to use sliding table that is adjustable for height and large in-seat storage space, all complemented by furnishings and amenities designed by fashion house, Givenchy.

The First Class dining service, exclusively designed by Singapore Airlines’ panel of renowned chefs and wine experts, has been further refined. Besides having complete flexibility as to when to dine, First Class customers can select from a revamped menu, presented with a daily chef’s recommendation.

Business Class

A stylish combination of enhanced personal space, functionality and leading-edge innovation, the new Business Class seat diverges from the norm.

Laying claim to the world’s widest business class seat, at 30-inches the new fully-flat seat is almost 50 percent wider than most airlines currently offer in this class. The innovative design of the product allows it to be transformed into the largest fully-flat Business Class bed in the sky for both sleeping and lounging.

Seats are arranged in a forward facing, 1-2-1 configuration that offers all customers direct access to the aisle. Every seat has a fixed back shell that extends to the sides for enhanced privacy.

Other features include a 15.4-inch LCD monitor fully equipped with USB ports and in-seat power, exclusively designed bedding and dining-ware by Givenchy, enlarged dining table that is adjustable for height as well as full carry-on bag storage under the seat.

Economy Class

Designed using extensive customer feedback as a guideline, the redesigned seat sets a standard in the class at 19 inches—two inches wider than any other airline.

Each seat is equipped with a larger 10.6-inch monitor to access the carrier’s entertainment system and USB ports. Other smart features include the installation of the handset on the seatback for easier reach, a non- intrusive reading light installed underneath the seatback screen, and in-seat power supply.
