Strong feedback for Austrian snack revamp

Early indications are that the newly designed free Austrian Snack Service is being well-received by both Austrian and international passengers on Austrian flights. Passengers in Economy Class on short-haul flights have been benefiting from the wide-ranging new service since 16 November.

The service was created in partnership with leading Austrian chef Helmut ?-sterreicher (of Vienna’s restaurant `?-sterreicher im MAK«.

In an early review of the situation, EVP Peter Baumgartner, Divisional Manager Customer Services & Product Development, said the following: ‘Our guests enjoy receiving the new Austrian Snack Box, in which - depending on the time of day - both savoury and sweet Austrian delicacies are served. Passengers find the fresh visual design of the Snack Box, whose lid can be torn off and used as a postcard and posted free of charge while on board, particularly inspiring. The first few days of the new snack concept alone have seen several thousand Austrian postcards sent out from high above the clouds!’

Depending on the time of departure, a freshly prepared breakfast or daytime meal is served in the Austrian Snack Box on all international flights (between 65 and 150 minutes in flight time). In addition to this, Austrian offers a wide-ranging choice of alcoholic, non-alcoholic and hot drinks. On all domestic and ‘ultra-short-haul’ services, meanwhile (up to 65 minutes in flight time), passengers in Economy Class can enjoy a ‘Refreshment Service’, with sweet and savoury snacks served from the basket and coffee, tea and water also provided as refreshment.

The extensive Austrian quality offensive, which began with the installation of lie-flat sleeper seats in Business Class on Austrian long-haul and has now continued with the new free Economy-Class Service, has been successful so far and will further surprise with other service and comfort elements in the future.
