Austrian Air promotes musical production

Austrian Airlines, the city of Salzburg, and the federal province of SalzburgerLand are jointly promoting the new musical production playing in London’s West End. When Andrew Lloyd Webber took the final three contestants of the BBC casting show “How do you solve a problem like Maria” to SalzburgerLand this past October, he said that hearing them sing on the meadows and hearing their echoes in the mountains was simply “a goose bumps” experience.

Nowhere in Europe is this story as popular as in Britain, where millions of fans enthusiastically watch the movie over and over again. And, judging by the critics’ reviews of “The Sound of Music” premiere in London on 15th November 2006, Andrew Lloyd Webber and David Ian have produced yet another wonderful excuse to watch this moving story and to visit its beautiful sights. In additional to the critics, others are also delighted by this new show. A distinguished delegation led by Vice Governor Dr. Wilfried Haslauer of the Federal Province of Salzburg and Dr. Gabriele Matzner-Holzer, the Austrian Ambassador to the UK were equally excited to see the show and meet the producers and cast.

Further exciting news for fans of the musical - plans are currently underway for a ‘The Sound of Music’ museum with a tentative opening date of 2008.
