Eldorado appoints new GM

Eldorado Hotel & Spa has added to its experienced executive team with the appointment of a new general manager, Alfred Matter.  Matter brings over 20 years of hospitality management experience, including four years as general manager of another Santa Fe hotel, Bishop’s Lodge Resort & Spa.  He will oversee all of the four-diamond hotel’s operations and its 275 employees.

“I am thrilled to become apart of this dynamic team,” said Matter.  “Eldorado Hotel & Spa is the premier hotel in Santa Fe and I look forward to being a part of its continued success as it heads into its second decade serving visitors to New Mexico’s capital.”

Matter joins Eldorado Hotel & Spa, which is celebrating its 20th year, at an exciting time as the hotel has recently undergone several enhancements.  The award-winning restaurant, The Old House, unveiled a revamped lobby entrance, furnishings and artwork at the beginning of 2006.  Also this year, the property’s lobby received facelift creating a new sense of arrival and the fitness center has been updated and was doubled in size.  A new 4,300 square foot spa was added in 2005.  Slated for 2007 is a complete overhaul of the 219 guestrooms and its meeting facilities.

Prior to his return to Santa Fe, Matter most recently served as general manger of the Harvest Inn in St. Helena, CA, where his primary focus was building top-notch management teams and elevating customer service.  Throughout his career, Matter has held general manager positions at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, The Watergate Hotel in Washington DC and Radisson Plaza Hotel in Orlando.

Matter holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from Ecole Hoteliere Lausanne in Switzerland.  He has served on the Board of Directors for the New Mexico Lodgers Association and Santa Fe County Lodgers Tax Advisory Board.
