Jersey looks to boost air routes

Jersey Airport is proactively seeking enquiries from airline operators interested in establishing services linking Jersey with centres within the United Kingdom and Europe.Expressions of Interest are sought for seasonal or year-round scheduled air services between Jersey and the following European countries:

Belgium - Brussels
France - Nice, Marseilles, Bordeaux, Paris, Nantes
Germany - Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt
Netherlands - Amsterdam, Rotterdam
Poland - Warsaw & Environs
Portugal - Faro, Lisbon
Spain - Alicante And Other Coastal Resorts
Sweden - Stockholm
Switzerland - Zurich, Geneva


The aim of the campaign is to stimulate interest from Airlines in operating new routes into Jersey Airport from the above specified destinations, as well as new business development opportunities for Jersey Airport to maximise air transport links, without migrating of traffic from existing routes.

 

Director of Tourism & Economic Development David de Carteret said: “Tourism is a key driver of economic prosperity for Jersey, and with a resident population of over 85,000 people and a dynamic international finance industry, there is buoyant demand for an increased range of air services that meet both leisure and business needs. This strategy is designed to support our 2% economic growth objective by added occupancy levels as well as on-island spends.”

As part of a broader market development plan, Jersey Airport is reviewing its aeronautical pricing structure with a view to making air services more commercially attractive and sustainable. Jersey Airport and the States of Jersey Economic Development Department are willing to enter into commercial partnerships to support the establishment of new air services.

 

Jersey Airport functions as the strategic link for Jersey to the United Kingdom and Europe. The airport currently handles approximately 1.5million passengers and 10,000 tonnes of freight per annum.
