New online accommodation specialist, youtravel.com has confirmed its plans to act as principal in the agent booking process for its portfolio of over 2,500 resort accommodation properties. Since youtravel.com launched on 28th October 2006 the matter has been a priority in order to ensure that the company takes responsibility for issues such as health and safety.

Paul Riches, Sales and Marketing Director of youtravel.com explains:

 

“youtravel.com announces that it is currently working on becoming a principal. Recent unfortunate events that have shaken the travel industry, plus our new thinking on the role of the online accommodation provider, has led us to this decision. We are working thoroughly through issues like health & safety for the benefit of our retail partners and the final consumer. This liability policy is being put in place as we speak and will be finalised in the next few days.

 

“youtravel.com does not envisage that the changes will increase the cost base for our retail partners and their customers. Whilst the changes will increase youtravel.com’s cost base, it will be minimal when taken as a percentage across the business and therefore prices will remain competitive.”
