Sue Powers named CIO of the Year

The Georgia CIO Leadership Association
(GCLA) has awarded its 2006 Global CIO of the Year Award to Sue Powers,
chief information officer and senior vice president of Worldspan. This premier annual executive recognition
program honors CIOs or executives in equivalent positions in Georgia who
are top innovators in technology, and have demonstrated excellence in
managing their organization’s enterprise-wide information systems.
“All of us at Worldspan congratulate Sue on this terrific recognition.
The award is a true reflection of her leadership abilities and the
capabilities of her team,” said Rakesh Gangwal, Worldspan chairman,
president and chief executive officer.
“Sue Powers personifies leadership and innovation in technology,” said
Bart Wood, former CIO of Georgia Power and 2006 Chairman of the Georgia CIO
Leadership Advisory Board. “We are proud to honor Sue with this award,
which signifies her outstanding talent and is also a very positive
reflection on her global technical team.”
