The Directors of specialist tour operator Kirker Holidays are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of their negotiations with Kuoni.
Says Managing Director John MacNeill: “We have achieved all our key objectives with this sale. These were focused on a secure environment for staff at Kirker over the coming years, the freedom to maintain our successful relationships with independent agents, and our passion for delivering excellent service to clients.
“Kuoni’s motivation for the purchase is to acquire a profitable, premium travel business which has a bright future, a talented team of enthusiastic staff and some well-developed plans for future expansion. They see Kirker as an independent member of their group of companies, and we in turn feel that we have found a good niche from which to continue Kirker’s success story.”
MacNeill will, in time, also work with the Kuoni Group on specific projects worldwide.
He continues: “Kirker’s home-grown talent, Ted Wake and Andrew Layard, will continue in their r™les as Directors. They have both been with the company for many years, are well-respected by suppliers and our in-house team alike, and are passionate about the company.
Ted Wake adds: “It is important to note - as I will be explaining personally to our many close travel agency friends - that ownership by Kuoni guarantees that our total commitment to independent travel agents remains unchanged.”
The company’s business partners will also remain the same. “Our ethos, our style and the individual nature of our business will continue”, says Wake. “Our carefully-chosen business partners are an important aspect of Kirker’s way of working.”
The sale price is not disclosed.
