Marseille unveils first no-frills terminal

A new no-frills terminal building has just opened at Marseille in southern France which has been built just for budget carriers like Ryanair and easyJet. The terminal has kept concrete floors rather than carpeting, and passengers have to carry their own bags to the aircraft.

The savings mean that the airport is able to charge airlines just 1.30 EUROS per passenger rather than the usual 6. The terminal, which is actually a converted warehouse, has the capacity to handle up to 3.5 million passengers per year.

Marseille is aiming to grab a share of the rapidly growing cheap flights market in and out of France.
