LA launches website, celebrates 225 years
The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau is launching a brand new fun and interesting page to their website to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the City of Los Angeles.
www.SeeMyLA.com/225 has been created to highlight some of the fun and interesting facts about LA - 225 to be precise! As the second largest city in America, Los Angeles gets its fair share of attention, but there is still plenty to learn about the City of Angels. From 225 amazing facts about LA, to 225 TV shows made and set in the LA, the site is a fun and useful read.
The site recognises LA as the recording capital of the world - home to countless singers and songwriters - and has produced a page of 225 Los Angeles songs. Some are home grown artists like the Beach Boys, who immortalized Southern California beach culture, while others, including international icons like the Beatles, have been inspired by their time spent in LA. The songs, some of which are available to download from the site, include hits such as ‘Hollywood’ by Madonna, ‘Dani California’ by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Savage Garden’s ‘Santa Monica’ and ‘Los Angeles Blues’ by Peggy Lee.
There are also details on 225 movies made in LA - from 1920s through to the present day, films include classics such as ‘The Big Sleep’ and ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ to ‘Beverley Hills Cop’ and ‘Pretty Woman’, as well as the recent award-winning ‘Crash’ and ‘The Black Dahlia’.
Special offers are available in a number across a number of different categories, including car hire and transportation, cultural destinations such as museums and art galleries, tours, shopping, entertainment and a large number of dining options. Fun and interactive elements are added continually and include activity pages for children and a link to get free TV tickets. Other pages include 225 movie locations and a calendar of events.
