Amex boosts Central Europe presence

American Express today announced the
appointment of Marc Hildebrand as Vice President, General Manager for
Central Europe, effective from 1 November 2006.  Marc will report into
David Herrick, Vice President, Head of Business Travel, EMEA.  Winfried
Barczaitis, will now take up the new role of Vice President, Eastern
Europe, reporting into Marc.

David Herrick explained the companies objectives and Mr Hildebrand’s
role towards this goal, ‘Marc brings a wealth of industry experience and
will play a vital role in continuing to strengthen our presence in the
important Central European region.  We have already made some excellent
progress with our business in this region, which includes some of our
largest customers.  It is a critical element to the overall success of
our business in Europe and we are therefore looking to provide a more
concerted effort and focus on becoming the market leader, in which Marc
will play a key role.’

 

Marc joins American Express from his previous position as the Worldwide
President and CEO of the Global Board for TQ3 Travel Solutions.  He was
responsible for remodeling TUI, making it a market leader four times
bigger than its nearest rival and launching and developing TQ3 as a new
global player in the travel management industry.  Under Marc’s
leadership TQ3 achieved significant growth through an intensive
acquisition strategy.
