Austrian traffic grows by 10.3%

In the first three quarters 2006 the Austrian Airlines Group increased its traffic results, as measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) on its scheduled services, by 7.4 %.
This compares to an increase in availability of 6.8 % measured in available seat kilometers (ASK). Over the first nine months of the year, the Austrian Airlines Group realised a double digit passenger growth of 10.3 % compared to last year and carried approximately 6.9 million passengers on scheduled services.

The passenger load factor on scheduled services increased by 0.4 percentage points to reach 74.2 %. With around 8.4 million passengers carried on scheduled and charter services overall, the Austrian Airlines Group transported 7.8 % more people than in the comparison period in 2005.


September 2006
In September 874,000 passengers were carried on scheduled services, which is an increase of   6.7 % compared to 2005. Scheduled availability measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) was slightly reduced compared to the same period in 2005, with the figure down by 0.9 %. The number of passenger kilometers on scheduled services sold and generating revenue (RPK) fell by 2.2 % in September compared to the previous year. At 79.2 %, the passenger load factor for the Group’s scheduled services fell by 1.0 percentage points compared to the figure for last year. With an overall increase in passenger volume of 4.2 % compared to September 2005, the Austrian Airlines Group was again able to improve its performance in this area. In total, some 1.1 million passengers were carried on scheduled and charter services.
