EU: Ireland wants to meet over Ryanair bid

According to Dow Jones newswire the Irish government has asked to meet next week with European regulators to discuss Ryanair’s bid for Aer Lingus. No specific time has yet been set, said spokesman Jonathan Todd.

Low-cost airline Ryanair announced a bid for newly listed Aer Lingus. Oct.5.

The prospect of a combined group has been met with resistance by the Irish government, Ireland’s largest labor unions, politicians and Aer Lingus, but analysts say only E.U. regulators have the power to stop it.
